COCKEYE FILM ZINE
The impulse to create the silliest, most ridiculous and pointless film zine in the country was sparked when reading yet another impossibly polite interview with a director somewhere.
I thought -- what's the point?
Thus the playful decision to make a film zine for the pleasure of myself and the ridicule of everyone else.
The content was assured to be as irreverent and irrelevant as possible while playing on editorial forms of print content.
ISSUE 1 was released on 31 July 2017. It was selected by ArtAsiaPacific Magazine as an Editor's Pick from Booked: Hong Kong Art Book Fair 2020 at Tai Kwun Contemporary 大館當代美術館.
In the mood for clean, the best damn zine.
29 physical copies of the zine were printed for circulation and no digital copies were made. The zine would not be sold for profit as the idea was to have no monetary value imbued upon it.
Readers were strongly encouraged to pass the zine on to other hungry hands after reading instead of hoarding it on their bookshelves.
After many pleas, requests, and an equal amount of complaints about people keeping the zine, a second run was printed.
It was allowed to sell at Singapore Art Book Fair and Objectifs Centre of Film and Photography, with a lesser amount for "those who are struggling financially", a pricing tier determined by trust.
